Café Sockenstugan

Welcome to Café Sockenstugan, an idyllic oasis located by the beautiful Lake Borasjön in Finnerödja, Närke. Here we offer a unique experience in one of Sweden's oldest resting places, where you can enjoy well-prepared food and coffee in a historic setting. The café is located directly adjacent to Ramundeboda monastery ruins, a place filled with history from the 15th century.

For those who wish to stay overnight, we offer pitches with access to WC and shower. Our site is equipped to welcome both day visitors and those who want to stay a little longer. Just 100 metres from the pitches you will find a wonderful beach - perfect for hot summer days.

Our popular café serves classic pastries, salads, waffles and ice cream, all prepared with the best seasonal ingredients. Don't miss exploring our 'farm shelf', where you can find locally produced food crafts such as drinks, pastas, jams and sauces.

The area around Café Sockenstugan is rich in nature experiences and cultural attractions. In addition to the Ramundeboda monastery ruins right by the café, the nearby hiking trails Bergslagsleden and Munkastigen invite you to adventure in beautiful nature. A 6-kilometre hike to Öudden offers stunning views of Lake Borasjön and runs through paths and trails in varying terrain.

The area is perfect for those who appreciate history, nature and tranquillity. Enjoy the many activities on offer nearby, such as swimming, hiking or a quiet moment in the historic atmosphere of the monastery ruins.

Before your visit to Café Sockenstugan, we recommend that you book your place in advance to ensure access to pitches and facilities. Don't forget to pack your swimwear and towel for visits to the nearby swimming area. Remember to bring hiking boots if you plan to explore the scenic hiking trails around Lake Borasjön.

To get here, take the E20 motorway and follow the signs for Klosterruin and Café Sockenstugan, about 5 km after or before Laxå. Here you can park and enjoy a lovely coffee or a tasty salad in a relaxing environment, surrounded by Närke's beautiful landscape and historical wings.
