Camp Alta is a unique camping facility located right on the beautiful Lake Alttajärvi, just a 15-minute drive from Kiruna in the magnificent landscape of Norrbotten. Whether you visit us in the winter to experience the Northern Lights or in the summer to swim in the Arctic lake under the midnight sun, Camp Alta offers an unforgettable nature experience all year round.

We have been around since the early 2000s and have since become one of the most popular and recognised tourist destinations in the area.

The resort consists of cosy and comfortable cabins that offer a simple but pleasant stay for the adventurous traveller. Each cabin is equipped with the essentials to help you relax after a day of adventure.

For those who want a little extra comfort, there are communal areas such as saunas and hot tubs, where you can warm up during the cold winter months. In addition, we have waste sorting facilities and we welcome pets, allowing the whole family to enjoy their stay.

Camp Alta also offers a wide range of activities. In winter, you can go dog sledding, snowmobiling or try ice fishing on the frozen lake. In summer, you can hike in the surrounding Arctic forests, kayak on Alttajärvi or try your luck at fishing in the lake.

Camp Alta is located in an area that offers both nature experiences and proximity to Kiruna city. Kiruna, which is only 15 minutes away by car, has everything from restaurants and bars to shops and sights such as Kiruna church and the famous ice hotel in Jukkasjärvi. mine, the world's largest underground iron ore mine, is a must.

If you want to stay close to the campsite, there are beautiful hiking trails around Alttajärvi where you can discover the Arctic flora and fauna.

In summer, the lake offers great swimming spots for the brave, and the fishing opportunities are fantastic. Whether you're looking for tranquillity or excitement, Camp Alta and its surroundings have something to offer everyone.

Camp Alta is open all year round and offers a great opportunity to experience the unique nature and culture of Swedish Lapland. Remember to pack clothes for varying weather conditions, as temperatures can vary greatly depending on the season. The resort allows pets, so feel free to bring your four-legged friend.

Restaurants and larger shops can be found in Kiruna, so you may want to do some shopping on the way there if you are planning a longer stay in the natural environment.
