Welcome to Gripen Gard, a real old-fashioned small farm located in the picturesque landscape of Vestland, specifically in Frekhaug.
This unique place, shaped by sheep over hundreds of years, is located at the end of the road next to the large Storavatnet on the island of Holsnøy. Gripen Gard not only offers accommodation, but also courses and experiences related to wool and a sustainable lifestyle.
The facility stretches over large green areas, where old buildings and lush pastures create a charming setting for your stay. The farm is self-service with organic and eco-friendly principles and all production is certified organic.
For those who want an active holiday, Gripen Gard offers opportunities for hiking, rowing and fishing in Lake Storavatnet, just five minutes' walk from the accommodation. We also offer the lending of boats, life jackets and fishing equipment.
For those interested in handicrafts, there are opportunities to learn about the wool's journey from sheep to product, and you can even buy sustainable souvenirs from the farm, everything from yarn to knitted garments.

From Gripen Gard there are plenty of opportunities to explore Nordhordland, Norway's first biosphere reserve. The area is known for its rich history in wool production and a close collaboration between local companies that work with wool and sheep farming.
The landscape is characterized by sheep that keep the heath landscape and the hilly green areas open and free of bushes and trees.
For those who want to explore the local community further, the region offers various cultural and historical sights.
You can visit local wool workshops, take part in the local food culture with products directly from farms around the area, or enjoy the silence of nature in the surrounding forests, which are rich in mushrooms and wild berries.
If you are planning a stay at Gripen Gard, it is good to know that we offer full board on request and that all our buildings and facilities have been authentically restored to preserve and reflect the historic character of the farm. Check-in is available from 15:00, and check-out takes place no later than 12:00. It is recommended to book in advance, especially in high season.
Please note that the farm is run with a strong focus on sustainability and ecology, which is reflected in all aspects of your stay. We encourage all our guests to participate in this during their stay, whether through interaction with the animals, helping out on the farm or learning about sustainable practices.
