Hägern Bed & Nature

There's an old saying that if something seems too good to be true, it probably isn't. Hägern Bed & Nature is the exception to that rule! We are idyllically located right by Lake Bolmen with lots of activities for young and old, and of course those in between. We are a traditional bed & breakfast but we have replaced the word breakfast with nature because we want to emphasise the nature we have in our surroundings.

Our ancestry goes back in time. The Hägern Inn was built in 1943 by Per Gottfried Berglund. It was originally built as a hunting lodge, but today Hägern Bed & Nature has been run from here since 1997.

In connection with the bed & nature business at Hägern, there are now temporary pitches to accommodate guests who want to relax in the beautiful nature of Bolmsö.

The camping area offers nice pitches with lake views (electricity socket, 10 Amp). You will also have access to water filling, latrine emptying, toilet. At the moment there is no access to shower or kitchen.

All rooms at Hägern Bed & Nature have lovely country-style furniture and a private terrace. Where you can enjoy a drink of your choice (may we recommend a glass of rosé wine for the adults?) While you sit and watch the sun slide down the horizon and discuss the day's events. All rooms are newly renovated with bathroom and shower. Well-functioning WIFI is available in all rooms.

Just outside the camping area there are several activities to entertain yourself with. No problem! Bolmen offers a variety of fishing. You can either sit by the jetty with your rods and let your thoughts fly away, or try more advanced fishing in the form of jerkbait fishing for pike or trolling fishing. You can also take part in guided fishing trips.

Before you go, just remember that you must buy a fishing licence before fishing. We also have bicycles for hire. There are fantastic roads for road cycling nearby, and while you're at it you can turn off the main road and cycle along the nice untravelled roads around Lake Bolmen. For those feeling really athletic, you can cycle around Bolmen. The route is 12 miles and usually takes 2 days.

More information and map regarding Bolmen round can be found via this Hylte.se. We also have a rowing boat for hire for those who want to go out to sea! The boat has room for 4 people.

There are also hiking trails nearby you can explore. Depending on the season, you can pick different kinds of mushrooms and berries. Maybe you'll find your new favourite mushroom patch here somewhere? Or Sweden's best chanterelle place? Those who dare to go hiking have the chance to do this and much more!

Of course, you also have swimming nearby. By swimming we mean a child-friendly sandy beach where even the little ones can swim and play.

We at Hägern Bed & Nature can fulfil all your holiday dreams, but something we can't help is the weather. So when the weather does not really allow for your desired activities, we open up the barbecue hut which has room for 10 people! There you can of course grill the food you want. Maybe the catch of the day?

Dogs are not allowed in the rooms and all rooms are non-smoking.Hägern Bed & Nature is located on the northern part of the island of Bolmsö in the village of Kyrkby. Depending on where you come from, there are different roads to drive to us.

If you have access to GPS, you can put in the address Kyrkbyvägen 12, Bolmsö (Ljungby municipality - Kronoberg county)

From the E4 from the north: Take exit no. 81 at Lagan and follow the signs to Bolmsö. After 20 km in Tannåker turn left and a bit further on over the bridge to Bolmsö. From there, just continue the main road 10 km to us.From the E4 from the south: Take exit no. 79 at Ljungbystopp and follow the signs to Bolmsö. (do not confuse with Bolmen, which is a different community).

From the west: If you are driving from Halmstad via Hyltebruk we recommend taking the ferry across at Sunnaryd (see link to timetable) which is free and only a 10 min journey, as well as a fun experience using Sweden's longest cable ferry.

From Gothenburg: We recommend taking road 40 to Borås, then 27 to Gislaved where you turn right towards Reftele. From Reftele it is signposted towards Bolmsö, remember that you have to take the ferry over to us.
