Särna Camping

Särna Camping is one of the most beautiful campsites in Dalarna. For no less than three years in a row, several major magazines have named the campsite one of the best campsites in the country. The campsite is located in northern Dalarna and is centrally located in Särna village with a magical view of Vedungsfjällen and Städjan.

Särna Camping offers over 140 beautiful camping pitches, 56 of which have electricity. You can park your caravan, motorhome or pitch your tent there. The campsite has a total of 12 cabins in 2-bed or 4-bed sizes - all with views of the Österdalälven and Städjan rivers. All cabins have a table, chairs, fridge, hotplate, household utensils, duvets and pillows. The cabins are located about 50 metres from the service building.

There are two ultra-modern and fresh service buildings at the campsite. Both are equipped with toilets, showers, baby changing tables and disabled toilets and showers. One of the two service buildings also has access to a kitchen, laundry room and a cosy sauna that you can book as a guest at the campsite. There are two places for portable latrine tanks, one indoors and one outdoors. There is also a place for fixed tanks.

At Särna Camping you are close to swimming, nature, relaxation and fishing. This makes the campsite a favourite spot that keeps many people coming back year after year. The camping area has a fine sandy beach with a jetty. The water is shallow and provides good swimming opportunities for people of all ages. Many people spend their summer days here, sunbathing and swimming during the hot, sunny summer days. The bathing area is often referred to as emDalarnas Copacabanaem. The Red Barn on the beach sells coffee, drinks, ice cream and sweets. If you want to take a trip on the lake, you can hire one of the canoes and boats. The excellent fishing opportunities in the area are utilised by several guests who then choose to grill their catch in the evening. A barbecue is available in the area for guests to use.

The restaurant at Särna Camping serves breakfast, lunch buffet and à la carte. The restaurant has full rights and prepares the food with local ingredients and a lot of love. With a magical flavour palette and striking views of the Österdal River, this is a restaurant not to be missed!

If you choose to visit Särna Camping in winter, there are plenty of activities to keep you entertained, including snowmobile hire, skiing and dog sledding. Many people who come here are also here for the moose hunt that starts in September every year. There are also opportunities to hunt small game as the area is rich in forest birds, beavers, foxes and martens. Ask at reception if you are interested in hearing more.

With its beautiful surroundings and proximity to the wilderness, many hikers visit Särna Camping every year. The Swedish mountain range starts here with Fulufjället on the west side and Vedugnen on the east side. In the north you will find Nipfjället and Städjan with its famous characteristic peak. The Swedish mountains offer everything from day trips that are also suitable for children to hiking trails for the more experienced mountain visitors with the possibility of overnight stays and longer stays.
