Väärnisaari Lapinlahti

Väärninsaari offers the traveller on the highway 5 an excellent stopover in the stunning Savo Lake scenery surrounded by pine trees and cliffs. Located on the southern edge of the Lapinlahti church village, the island's dilapidated camping centre was demolished in 2021, allowing the island to come to life again. In 2022, the island will be open for a wide range of recreational uses - including a car park. The island is maintained by a non-profit association, the Friends of Väärninsaari Association. The island is adjacent to Väärn harbour and the historic Väärn rectory, the birthplace of national writer Juhani Aho.

The services of Lapinlahti church village (grocery stores, pharmacy, Tokmanni, library, Eemil Art Museum, Luova Puu art café, railway station lunch and café, etc.) are a short, approximately 2 km drive away. The Neste Mati and Liisa station is about 4 km away along the highway 5. At "Matiski" you will find services such as Kotipizza, Scanburger and a home-cooked lunch. The parking area is 4.5 x 8m. A swimming pier, barbecue shelter, volleyball court, outdoor swimming pool, water and electricity points and discharge points for chemical toilets and grey water are available for tourists.

Our association aims to promote the use of Väärninsaari for recreational and leisure activities for the residents of Lapinlahti, while at the same time increasing the local community spirit.
